Chapter 1: On The Moon

8 years later...

Amanda and Ami stepped off the transport and onto the landing pad at the side entrance to the Moon palace. Amanda was now 18 years old and Ami was 16 years old. Both girls had grown into beautiful young women. Their Aunt Akira had died last year and they now had their full powers from their mom and aunt. They had grown stronger and closer together over the years since the loss of their mother and aunt and had coped well. Amanda and Ami had decided to rule jointly, caring for their own expertise in the kingdom's rule and it had worked well for them. They had come to the moon on this trip for the final consecration of their positions as queens of Mercury and as part of the Sailor Senshi, the close friends and bodyguards of Princess Serenity. Lady Metallica had long since been defeated and sealed into a void by Queen Serenity. There was talk however that Metallica had recently escaped and taken over Queen Beryl of Earth but as of yet, they were just rumors. The royal family of Earth was in close contact with the Moon Kingdom and their bond remained strong, mostly due to the love that had grown between Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion.

Amanda looked around quietly and then smiled as she saw Princess Serenity waving to them from the steps to the transport pad. Ami and Amanda waved and then walked over, curtsying slightly to Princess Serenity before the three girls shared a group hug and greetings. "So, how have things been going, Sere?" Ami asked as they began walking toward the palace. "Not too bad...lots of training and preparations for the ceremony tonight. Mother said she plans to give me more duties this year to prepare me for ruling when it's time. Not too sure about that one yet. What little duties I do have are enough for me right now. I don't know how you two do it." Sere replied. Amanda laughed lightly. "It's not too bad really. Besides, necessity did wonders for us." Amanda responded as Ami nodded and added "It was rough at first but after a while you get used to it. You're lucky really...you get to ease into it...It just kind of jumped on us for lack of a better term." Ami chuckled softly at the memories. It had been a hard time but in hindsight very funny at times. Serenity smiled at the memory. She had gone to visit them for a few days about a month after their aunt's death and while she hated the circumstances for the girls, she had also found it hard not to laugh at some of the situations they had gotten themselves into. "Really though Serenity, you'll make a great queen someday...just like your mother and yet all your own. Just have faith in yourself and you'll find that all the training will go much easier." Amanda said with a soft smile as she lightly squeezed Princess Serenity's shoulder. Serenity smiled in thanks before Ami changed the subject. "By the way, I heard things are going well with Prince Endymion of Earth..." she said with a teasing smile. Serenity blushed and laughed. "Yes things are going well. OH! I almost forgot, he said he's bringing his court with him this time. I bet you'll be glad to see a certain someone again won't you?" Serenity replied as she smiled back at Ami teasingly. Ami was blushing a deep red as Amanda laughed lightly at her sister's embarrassment. “I can’t help it. Jadeite is so smart…and sweet…I just… I can’t explain it. I never thought I’d fall for an Earthian but he’s really very nice.” Ami replied quietly as the three girls walked through the palace halls toward the throne room. Amanda laughed softly. “Yeah they do have that effect on you…” Amanda admitted lightly causing both girls to look at her in surprise. “Who? WHO?” both girls asked inquisitively. Amanda chuckled. “Endymion’s brother…Edward. Which reminds me…is he coming tonight as well?” she asked as she grinned at Serenity. Both girls’ jaws dropped in surprise. Serenity was stuttering a bit before closing her mouth and nodding silently. “So that’s why you’ve been going to Earth on those ‘diplomatic missions.’ You’ve been using them to see Edward! I should have known!” Ami said in surprise. Amanda laughed at her sister’s surprise. “Well not totally, but it was a good excuse to see him.” She replied light-heartedly. Ami and Serenity laughed as the guards pushed open the doors to the throne room and an announcement was made that they had arrived. Ami smiled as she saw Minako, Rei, and Makoto standing in a circle chatting softly as they all waited for Queen Serenity’s arrival. The girls turned and smiled, waving at Ami, Amanda, and Sere as they walked over, all happy to see their friends again. The girls all chattered excitedly with greetings and hugs going around the group.

The room got quiet suddenly as an announcement was made that Queen Serenity was entering the room. All six girls turned and curtsied slightly before walking up to the dais where Queen Serenity stood smiling. Princess Serenity dutifully walked up to stand at her mother’s side as the planetary queens and princesses lined up before the moon’s queen and princess. “Welcome to the Moon Kingdom, my dears. It is good to see you all again. I’m sure you’re all excited to see each other again and also excited about the ceremony taking place this evening. Tonight you’ll take your rightful place as Princess Serenity’s court and as her protectors, the famous Sailor Senshi. For those of you who have not yet received your full powers, your mothers will be giving you those powers tonight and all of you will receive a special gift from the Silver Crystal that is unique to you and you alone. I hope you are all prepared for these special gifts and responsibilities that you will receive tonight and take them seriously. But until then, I have a surprise for you…that is if my daughter hasn’t spoiled said surprise already.” Queen Serenity said quietly, laughing lightly at her daughter’s red face, knowing that the surprise was well past spoiled. All the girls smiled expectantly and turned towards the main doors, moving into their positions on either side of Queen and Princess Serenity. Queen Serenity nodded and gestured toward the main doors and the two guards bowed as they opened the doors to reveal Prince Endymion and Prince Edward followed by their 4 generals: Malachite, Zoicite, Nephrite, and Jadeite, each of them princes of their own countries of Earth. All of the men smiled as they walked toward the dais, stopping a few feet in front of the princesses and bowing slightly, the four generals going down on one knee for a moment before standing again beside their wards. Serenity chuckled slightly as she saw the looks passing between the groups before bowing her head slightly. “Welcome to the Moon Kingdom, princes of Earth. I hope you enjoy your stay. I’m sure that my daughter’s court will make all of you feel quite at home. Also, when you are ready they can show you to your rooms.” She said quietly as she smiled at the men of Earth. She stopped for a moment as one of her ladies in waiting whispered in her ear and then nodded slightly. “If you will excuse me, there is something I must attend to.” She said quietly, bowing her head slightly again as everyone in the room bowed and curtsied as she left the room.

Quiet ruled for only moments before excited chatter resumed as each of the girls greeted the group from Earth. Princess Serenity was soon wrapping her arms around Prince Endymion’s neck in a hug as Amanda did the same with Prince Edward. Ami was blushing slightly as she spoke with Jadeite. Beside her, Rei and Nephrite were beginning to walk towards one of the side doors as they talked quietly. Minako and Malachite were laughing as they casually held hands and walked back toward the main entrance to the throne room and Makoto and Zoicite were close behind them. Princess Serenity and Queen Amanda were still wrapped up in their princes’ arms talking lightly before finally taking a step apart. The four looked at each other as Ami and Jadeite soon walked out to find their own privacy as well. Amanda held tightly to Edward’s hand as she smiled at Endymion. “So how have you been Endy? It seems like ages since I’ve seen all of you.” she asked politely, smiling at Sere’s attachment to Prince Endymion. ‘They make a good couple…’ she thought to herself before moving her mind back to Prince Endymion’s response. Endymion chuckled at the childhood name she had picked up when she first came to Earth with her aunt so many years ago. They had all become good friends although Edward had taken to her the most. “Things have been going well. Although it hasn’t been that long, Ama…you were just there 2 weeks ago discussing alliance possibilities with my parents and their advisors. I’m sorry they were being so difficult with you though. That group has always been wary of alliances outside of Earth. They’re on good terms with just about everyone but they just won’t set up legal alliances for much of anything.” He replied. Amanda shrugged her shoulders slightly. “True…but I didn’t really get to hang out with you two very much because of them.” Endymion laughed. “You mean you didn’t get to hang out with me much. You and Edward were all over each other every time you got away from the stuffy court.” Amanda blushed lightly, pulling a little closer to Edward as he wrapped an arm around her waist. “Oh come on now Endy, quit embarrassing my angel here.” He said with a smile, causing Endymion and Serenity to laugh. “Why don’t we head out to the gardens for a while and catch up with each other?” Serenity asked after a moment. The others nodded as they turned and walked out onto the balcony that looked over the gardens. They all talked quietly as they walked down the curving staircase that led down into the gardens and headed toward the gazebo.

After a few minutes of walking and talking quietly, the two couples slowly parted, Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion going to sit on a bench in the rose gardens while Queen Amanda and Prince Edward went to sit in the privacy of the gazebo. Amanda quietly curled into Edward’s arms and they kissed lightly. Edward stroked Amanda’s hair lightly as she leaned against his broad chest. “I’ve missed you Ama.” He said softly as he looked down at the top of her head. He was a good foot taller than her and she wasn’t short by any means. “I’ve missed you too Eddie. I wish it weren’t so difficult to get to see you…” she said softly, glancing up at him from her curled up position in his arms. He tightened his arms around her slightly. “I know…me too. I’m hoping to get to come to Mercury in a couple of weeks. Would you like that?” he asked quietly. A smile brightened Amanda’s features. “I would love that. Do you think you could bring Jadeite with you? I know Ami would love the chance for all of us to hang out together. She gets to see him even less than I see you.” She replied happily. Edward chuckled softly. “I’ll see what I can do. I’m sure it shouldn’t be a problem to do that though. It’ll also be good for all of us to get to know each other a little better. I hardly know Ami and Jadeite hardly knows you other than our talking of each other.” Amanda nodded in agreement to his words. “I’ll be looking forward to our time together then. But for now, I just want to enjoy our time together here on the moon.” She said softly as she leaned up to kiss him lovingly while sliding an arm around his shoulder and up into his hair gently. Edward pulled her closer, running his fingers through her hair as they kissed. As they slowly broke the kiss, Amanda buried her face in his neck, holding him tightly as if afraid he’d disappear. “I love you Amanda.” He whispered softly into her ear, his heart pounding as he waited for her answer…he’d never told her that he loved her. They’d flirted and kissed and love showed in every move but they’d never actually said it. Amanda froze in his arms, surprised. Edward sucked in his breath, afraid he’d offended her when she finally kissed him again passionately before pulling back to look into his eyes. “I love you too Eddie…so very much. I was so afraid you didn’t feel the same way and then you…and I…I was surprised. Oh I love you so much.” She said excitedly before he pulled her tightly into his arms and almost into his lap as he kissed her again, relief and a warm happiness filling him as he held her tight and kissed the woman he loved more than anything in the world. After a few moments he pulled her into his lap and curled her close to him, her long curvaceous legs curled around him on the bench and her head on his shoulder with his strong arm supporting her back. They talked quietly as they sat there with Amanda planting light kisses over his neck and cheek occasionally while he stroked her cheek and side with his free hand.

Their time together ended much too soon as Amanda heard the chiming of the bells notifying them that it was 3 o’clock. Amanda groaned slightly as she pulled away. “I need to get going Edward. We have some meetings we have to attend before we get ready for the ceremony tonight.” She said softly as she slowly stood up from his lap. Edward sighed. “I suppose you’re right.” He said as he stood up, embracing her once more. “I’ll see you at the ceremony tonight.” He whispered in her ear and then kissed her lips softly. She smiled in response. “Yes you will…I love you. See you tonight.” She said quickly before turning and stepping out of the gazebo, almost running into Ami. “Eeps! Amanda you scared me!” Ami exclaimed as they regained their balance. “Sorry Ames…you running for it too huh?” Amanda asked laughingly as they turned to run toward the palace as Amanda glanced back to Edward who was standing in the opening of the gazebo, smiling at the two girls. She waved before they ran on toward the palace. They soon found Serena and several of the other girls as they all joined together to run up the steps into the throne room. From there, they walked demurely toward the meeting room.
