Chapter 5: A relaxing day…or not…

Amanda awoke as the light from the balcony doors shone on her face and squinted, looking around before looking down at Edward who was still sleeping. She smiled and tickled his chest lightly, slowly moving her fingers up to tickle his neck and eyes. He grunted in his sleep and then opened his eyes suddenly. “What…” he grunted and then focused on Amanda leaning over him and smiled. “You are beautiful…” he whispered softly, awe in his voice as he looked up at her, admiring her curves and breasts once again. Amanda blushed and slowly rolled out of the bed, pulling her silk robe off the hanger by the bed and wrapping it around her bashfully as she turned back to him. She chuckled as she saw Edward pouting at her. “Now, now none of that honey. Come on…we’re already running late to meet the others for breakfast.” She said as she turned to walk toward the bathroom. Edward chuckled softly and sighed as he got up, watching Amanda as she headed toward the bathroom. He stood up and walked over to the closet, pulling out what he was going to wear for the day. He smiled as he looked at his clothes hanging next to Amanda’s. ‘This is something I’m going to love getting used to.’ He thought happily as he laid his things on a nearby chair as Amanda came back out from the bathroom. Her robe was wrapped tightly around her body and she was toweling her hair dry. She looked up and smiled at him. “Bathroom’s all yours.” She said softly as she stopped and leaned up to kiss him lightly. Edward grinned and pulled her close, kissing her lovingly and causing her to drop her towel as she wrapped her arms around him. “Mmmm… you know how to steal a girl’s breath away.” She whispered as she pulled back a few moments later and winked at him before turning and walking over to the still open closet as Edward chuckled, watching her walk for a moment before turning and heading into the bathroom and taking a quick shower as well. He returned to see Amanda in the process of changing into a blue sundress. It had simple straps that criss-crossed in the back and a fitted top that flared into a calf length skirt. It was navy blue in color with a light blue pattern on it that looked like small roses running all over her dress. He smiled, admiring her almost naked body as she slid the dress over her head and adjusted it slightly. “Have I told you today how beautiful you are?” He asked softly as he walked over and wrapped his arms around her waist. Amanda jumped slightly and then chuckled. “Well yes…but I don’t mind hearing it again.” She replied as she smiled at him. “Well, you’re very beautiful and I love you very much.” He said softly as he kissed her neck softly, causing her to shudder lightly. “I love you too Edward…but I do believe it’s time you get dressed.” She said teasingly as she pointed to his clothes that were still sitting in a chair. Edward chuckled and kissed her again before walking over to the chair and getting dressed for the day.

He was wearing casual khaki slacks and a navy blue button up shirt today. They were all free to relax and just have a good time together today and he was looking forward to some time together with his new wife. He smiled at the thought. ‘Wife…I like the sound of that…’ he thought to himself. Amanda slid on a pair of sparkly navy blue sandals and then laced them up around her ankles and calf. She smiled up at him as she stood back up and kissed his cheek before walking over to her dressing table and sat down on the small stool there and began applying some light makeup and then putting on a pair of dangly navy blue rose earrings and a matching necklace and bracelet. She smiled as she gently slid on the engagement ring Edward had given her the night before and admired it for a moment. She then picked up her brush and brushed out her still damp hair until the tangles were gone and then pulled out a hairdryer and dried her hair. After a few minutes she pulled the top of her hair up into a bun for her usual hairstyle and checked to make sure everything was in place before standing and walking over to Edward who had just finished dressing and fixing his hair as well. She turned slowly and smiled at him questioningly. “So what do you think?” she asked teasingly. “Perfect…perfectly beautiful.” He said as he covered the short distance between them in two strides and pulled her into his arms again, hugging her tightly and then pulling back to kiss her nose lightly. “Now my angel…are you ready for breakfast?” he asked just as they heard a knock at the door. Amanda smiled and curtsied slightly. “Yes my love, I am.” She replied as they walked over to the door hand-in-hand. Amanda opened the door and smiled at Ami. “Good morning Ama…I’m about to head down to breakfast and was wondering if you two were coming." Ami said cheerfully. “Yes. We were just headed that way.” Amanda replied as they all headed out of the rooms and toward the small dining hall where they would be having breakfast.

After breakfast, the group of friends had gone their separate ways with their respective boyfriends and lovers. Amanda, Edward, Ami, Jadeite, Princess Serenity and Endymion had all found themselves in different parts of the rose gardens. Amanda and Edward were walking along one of the many paths and talking softly. They occasionally stopped to kiss or hold one another. They soon arrived at a bench that sat under a garden arch that was covered in roses and sat down. Amanda cuddled up against Edward as they chatted quietly, talking about the future wedding and trying to decide on a date for the celebration as well as the setting. They finally decided on July 9^th, which was only 3 months away but they were having a difficult time decided on a location. They wanted family and friends, as well as the people of each planet, to be able to participate in the celebration. “Well, perhaps we can have the wedding and a reception on one planet and then go to the other planet for a really large celebration. Maybe give an extra holiday or something for whichever planet we have the celebration on as a reconciliation type thing.” Amanda suggested. “That would probably work…and we could show a video of the wedding…something large enough to be shown during the celebration to hundreds of people. That way they won’t feel left out…and maybe wear the same clothing…should be able to get it cleaned quickly. That way the people can get a live look and it’ll feel more like they were there for it…we could change after a while into more comfortable clothing if we wanted…I’m sure your wedding dress won’t be overly comfortable…especially the second time around.” Edward said quietly. Amanda smiled. “That sounds like a great idea. Now to decide…” she said and then stopped as she heard a sudden scream not too far from them that was unmistakably Princess Serenity’s.

Amanda and Edward looked at each other in alarm before running toward the sound of Serenity’s ongoing screams. They arrived in the rose gardens just in time to see a flash of blue dress as Ami tackled Serenity to the ground while Endymion countered the ball of energy that had been flying at Serenity with his sword, making it fly back toward the attacker who jumped out of the way just in time. “AMI!!!” Amanda screamed as she ran toward her sister and Princess Serenity. “AMA!!! BE CAREFUL!” Edward shouted as he saw the dark figure of the attacker raise up from behind some bushes and throws another ball of energy in their direction. Amanda turned in surprise, screaming as the energy ball grazed her arm, leaving a streak of blood running down her arm. Amanda clutched her injured arm as she stood over her sister and Serenity and glared at the attacker. Suddenly she reached out with her injured arm as a blaze of blue surrounded the three and a tall scepter appeared in her hand. A strong force field gathered around the three girls as she pointed it at the attacker. “You are out of your territory demon.” She growled as a ball of blue appeared and flew at him, forming into a fairly large shard of ice that pierced his arm as he tried to escape its path. The attacker grunted in pain as Edward and Endymion both threw their own attacks at the now injured attacker. The man barely escaped Endymion’s attack but ran into Edward’s bright golden energy attack that plowed into his chest. He fell to the ground, badly injured as Jadeite ran forward and subdued the man with a golden ring around his chest and arms as well as one around his legs, immobilizing the attacker. As Jadeite handled the attacker, Endymion and Edward rushed over to the girls as Amanda let the shield disappear and she fell to her knees weakly, groaning slightly. Ami checked over Serenity quickly before letting her run to Endymion then turned to Amanda, a worried look on her face. Edward was kneeling at Amanda’s side; fear and concern in his face…the energy dart had been poisoned. Amanda was already growing pale and before anyone had a chance to say anything she groaned and fell over as Edward quickly caught her, pulling her into his arms gently. “Ama…Ama…please…stay with me…you can’t leave me Angel…please…” He whispered, blinking back the tears in his eyes. He couldn’t lose her now…he just couldn’t. Endymion and Serenity were drawing closer, worry in their eyes. “But…but it just hit her arm…she’s gotten worse from training with Aunt Akira…why is it affecting her so much?” Ami asked worriedly, moving closer, fear filling her voice. “P-poison…It was a poisoned energy dart.” Edward said painfully. “One of Beryl’s specialties…He must be working for her…I fear the rumors may be true.” Endymion added with a bitter tone to his voice. Behind them Jadeite had telekinetically raised the man into the air and had him floating along beside him as he walked over to join the others. “We need to get them inside. Amanda will need a doctor…quickly. That poison is fast acting. I’ll take him to the dungeons for the guards to deal with.” He said quickly, anger in his voice at the man who was floating beside him. He looked to Ami softly. “Go with your sister…I’ll join you as soon as I take care of this scumbag.” He said quietly, tossing a look at the man who was trying to struggle within his bonds and mentally tightened them, causing him to cry out. Edward looked up at the reminder, anger flooding his features as he held Amanda tightly. “Make sure the guards know that once Amanda is in good hands I’ll be down there to take care of him…he’ll pay for hurting Amanda!” he said bitterly, his anger and fear for Amanda’s life obvious in his features and voice. Amanda weakly reached up and gripped his collar. “Stay…stay with me please…don’t leave me…besides…we…we need information from him to protect…. Serenity…” she whispered before going into a coughing spasm. Edward held her close, the anger leaving his body and filled with concern. “I won’t leave you angel…just don’t…don’t give in to the poison.” He said as he held her close before standing, holding her slender and suddenly frail body close to him. He looked to the others quickly. “Hurry, we must get her to the queen’s doctors immediately.” He said quietly as he turned and almost ran back toward the palace, the others close behind.

As he entered the throne room doors, he shouted for the servants to bring a physician to Amanda’s room immediately as he ran through the halls and into the sitting room between Amanda and Ami’s rooms and gently laid Amanda down on the couch. She gently touched his cheek before her eyes fluttered closed and she passed out once more. One arm was laid across her stomach while the other fell slowly to touch the floor as he stood, turning away in pain. Ami was standing in the doorway, staring, fear stricken across her face. Edward walked over to her and gently took her in his arms holding her for a moment as he looked over her head to his brother who was standing behind her holding Serenity in a similar manner. He took a deep breath before pulling back slightly. “She’ll be okay Ami…she has to be.” He said softly before leading her into the room and guiding her to the chair beside the couch at Amanda’s head. She sat down heavily, looking at her sister lying still on the couch. He looked at her for a few moments as Serenity and Endymion walked in, sitting down on the settee at the other end of the couch. Soon the doctor rushed in followed by 2 nurses. They quickly knelt at Amanda’s side, silently beginning their tests. “What happened?” The doctor asked abruptly as he looked up at Edward, who was now pacing in front of the couch. “A poisoned energy dart…earth origin…from the coloration I’d say it’s a mixture of different poisons…all of them fairly strong.” Edward replied as he stopped pacing and stared at Amanda’s pale face. “How long ago?” the doctor shot back. “Maybe 15 minutes.” Endymion said quickly. The doctor shook his head sadly as he turned back to Amanda, causing Edward to worry even more. “Will….will she make it doctor?” Edward asked softly. “It’s difficult to say at this point. We’ll do the best we can but such a strong poison…it has already gotten into her system at this point and it may be very difficult to remove it.” The doctor replied as he directed the nurses in cleaning the wound. He pulled a syringe out of his leather satchel and filled it with a clear medicine. “This will help fight the poison…we’ll need to keep the wound cleaned twice a day. I’ll inject her with this twice daily as well. Hopefully, it will work and she will stay strong enough to help fight the poison in her system.” He said as he carefully injected the medicine into her injured arm and then capped and threw away the disposable syringe in a small plastic bag he kept in his leather satchel. He slowly stood as the nurses completed cleaning and wrapping the wound on Amanda’s arm. “It is all I can do…the rest is up to her. She is very strong…physically and magically. The Mercurians have always been a strong people…and they have innate healing abilities. As long as she is able to access those abilities, she should be able to heal from this easily. I’m sorry I cannot do more.” He said softly, sadness obvious in his face and voice as he looked from Ami to Edward. He then quietly walked from the room, followed by his nurses.

Jadeite walked into the room just as the doctor and nurses walked out. He looked from them to Ami. “How is she?” he asked quietly, looking from Edward to Ami. “She…She’s very ill. He gave her an injection, cleaned her wound and bandaged it. He said it’s up to Amanda now to find the strength to get through this.” Edward said quietly, his voice almost breaking as he just stood there looking at Amanda. Ami burst into tears, burying her face in her hands. “She can’t die…she can’t!” Ami exclaimed amidst her tears. Jadeite ran over to her, pulling Ami’s small form into his arms and holding her tightly. Shhhh…she won’t die…we have to stay strong for her Ami…she needs to know we’re here and strong for her.” Jadeite whispered in Ami’s ear as he held her. Endymion was holding Serenity tightly as she cried silently, her tears wetting his shirt. Edward slowly walked over to the couch and knelt down at her side, gently picking up the hand that just touched the floor and held it to his lips, kissing her palm gently. “Stay with us Ama…you have to fight it.” He whispered as he leaned over to kiss her lips lightly and then resting his head on her chest, wrapping his arms around her tightly and pressing her head to his shoulder gently as her arms hung limply at her sides. He could hear her shallow breathing and fought back sobs as he held her close, whispering in her ear that she had to stay strong. From behind him, Queen Serenity came rushing into the room, stopping still in the center of the room as she saw the scene. “Amanda…” she whispered as she rushed around the couch to kneel opposite Edward. She gently touched his shoulder, causing him to look up. “I came as soon as I heard. Edward, lay her down and back up some.” Queen Serenity said quietly as Edward grudgingly followed her directions. She then looked to Ami. “Ami…remember your gift?” Queen Serenity said softly. Ami looked at her curiously for a moment and then her eyes widened. “Healing! You mean…Oh!” she said quickly as the others looked at her in confusion. Ami quickly got up from the chair and ran around to kneel beside Queen Serenity. Ami took a deep breath, closing her eyes and concentrating for a moment until she felt her gift grow within her. She gently placed her hands over the bandaged wound on Amanda’s arm and whispered softly. “Mercury Healing…” she whispered softly. Nothing happened for a moment and then a blue glow began emanating from her hands and sinking into the wound on Amanda’s arm. Slowly she moved her hands over Amanda until the blue glow covered her entire body. After a few minutes, Ami slowly closed her hands and put them back in her lap as the glowing stopped. Edward looked at Ami and Queen Serenity and then moved closer to Amanda. He reached down and caressed her cheek lightly. “Amanda? Please wake up…Please be okay now…” he said softly as he gazed down at her intently. He blinked as he saw the color return to her face and skin and heard her breathing go back to normal. He took a shaky breath as Amanda slowly opened her eyes, looking around the room at everyone. “What…what happened?” she asked weakly. “The attacker hit your arm with a poison dart. We were able to subdue him…he’s in the dungeon now…but we…we almost lost you. The doctor was afraid you wouldn’t make it. But then Queen Serenity reminded Ami of her gift of healing and Ami was able to heal you.” Edward replied softly. Amanda blinked and looked from Edward to the others in the room and then to Ami. “You healed me?” she asked softly. Ami nodded slightly, tears of happiness slowly sliding down her cheeks. “I’d forgotten with everything that was happening and then Queen Serenity reminded me…I’m sorry I didn’t remember sooner. I’m so glad it worked though. I was so afraid I’d lose you too.” Ami said quietly. Amanda slowly sat up and hugged her sister gently. “It’s okay…Thank you so much for healing me Ami…I would have hated it if I’d left you…and Edward. I love you Ami and I’ll never leave you…I promise.” Amanda whispered into her sister’s ear. Ami smiled as Amanda pulled back, resting her hands on Ami’s shoulders. “I’m so proud of you Ami. You did a great job…you saved my life.” Amanda said quietly as she looked into her sister’s eyes. Ami smiled and nodded. “Thank you…and you’re welcome.” Ami replied, happy that her sister was well. Amanda smiled at her sister softly and then turned back to Edward. She smiled at him softly as he pulled her into his arms gently. “I was so afraid that I’d lose you…I couldn’t bear the thought of losing you so soon…” he whispered as he held her tightly. Ami quietly stood and walked around to Jadeite. Jadeite pulled her into his arms gently and held her close for a moment. Ami smiled and leaned up and kissed his cheek lightly before looking over at Amanda and Edward and around at the others. “Now that she’s okay, how about we leave them alone for a while?” Ami said quietly as she looked to Princess Serenity and Endymion and then to Queen Serenity. They all nodded slightly. Soon after they all walked out and headed toward Princess Serenity’s sitting room to discuss what had happened.
